AD/HD School Caravan Awareness Seminars
An awareness campaign geared towards private and public schools, aimed at providing a positive perspective on ADHD. The Society has conducted these seminars in different schools all over the country.
-
Teacher Training
With the heightened awareness on the disorder, school administrators and local government officials have recognized the importance of early identification and proper management of children with ADHD in the classroom. The Society offers timely and relevant training modules for teachers, guidance counselors and school administrators so as to empower them with skills that will help them in effectively managing the learning difficulties and peculiar behaviors of students with ADHD.
-
Parent Training
In 2005, the Society solicited the expertise of US-based psychologist and ADHD expert, Ms. Sandy Malone-Long, for a special training module for parents (of children with ADHD) in the Philippines. Ms. Long trained 30 parent facilitators who were later tasked to conduct the parenting classes for members. The 8-week training course equips parents with skills on effective communication, positive reinforcement, behavior management, among others. It also encourages parents to be advocates for their children so that they can ensure a better quality of life for their children.
-
Public Awareness Seminars
In its vigorous pursuit to raise public awareness on ADHD, the Society has conducted seminars nationwide. Aside from informing the general public about the disorder, these seminars aim to give a better understanding of and remove the stigma placed on the individuals with the condition.
-
Seminars/Workshops
In its continuing effort to empower parents and educators with knowledge and skills to manage ADHD, the Society conducts regular seminars and workshops to provide them with updated and relevant information on the disorder.
-
Support Groups
One of the first activities of the Society during its early days was the intimate gathering of its members in a support group meeting. The bi-weekly meeting for parents and other caregivers for children with AD/HD provides an avenue for the discussion of issues and concerns in the proper management of the condition.
-
Publications
To keep its members abreast with its current projects and activities, the Society publishes a quarterly newsletter which contains news items, columns, and feature articles. In 2002, the Society published a Teacher's Manual as part of its 1st Educational Conference on ADHD. The manual provides teachers with basic knowledge in the management of the ADHD child in the classroom. The "Attn!" magazine, a yearly magazine which was started in October 2006 gives insights on the world of ADHD, with first-person articles written by the children, adults and parents as well.
-
Library
The Society encourages its members to share their knowledge with others, hence it has come up with a public library which contains the latest books, magazines, handouts, manuals, videos and other publications about AD/HD. It is open to the public.
-
Conference
Once every two years, the Society conducts a national conference to address the many concerns of AD/HD management. The conference brings together foreign and local experts on AD/HD to discuss current information and the different approaches to the management and treatment of the disorder. In 2007, the Society conducted its first regional conference in Cebu City with over 500 participants coming from the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

Lingap ADaHaDa
A TOTAL WELLNESS AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM for indigent school-age children with ADHD
This program seeks to:
- promote awareness and basic understanding of AD/HD to public school teachers, SPED teachers, administrators, government social workers, parents and health workers in identified schools and communities;
- equip the public school teachers, guidance counselors and school administrators with adequate knowledge and more appropriate skills in handling children with AD/HD in the classroom;
- help empower poor families by enabling them to manage the AD/HD in their children and handle the problem situations in the home setting;
- help children with AD/HD in securing the necessary care and therapy and in availing of the opportunities that could nurture and utilize their potentials and talents; and
- advocate for increased national and local government attention and support through an institutionalized response to the needs of persons, especially indigent children, with AD/HD.
Through the kind and generous hearts of our members, supporters, and benefactors, we hope to successfully carry out this endeavor. By reaching out to the less fortunate children who - like our very own cherished ones - have AD/HD, our Society can truly be socially relevant and spiritually uplifting.
